right under Larry Cordle’s #1 slot for
his All-Star duets album. No Grass
Limits song “Good Ole Days of Bill
Monroe” made it to #1 as a single.
The No Grass Limit album titled
“Originals” is all songs written by
Chuck and Sandi Millar. Songs about love
like “Broken Hearted Blues”, “One More
Chance” and “Me and You” to a song about
loss such as “A Letter to My Savior” and
even a couple of good murder tunes
“Shackles and Heart of Stone, going from
one extreme to the next this album takes
you on a journey. There is even a
tribute song to the Father of Bluegrass
music, Bill Monroe, "Good Ole Days of
Bill Monroe" Here is a little history on
the song: The original version was
written with 45 Bill Monroe songs
titles. No Grass Limit needed a radio
version so it got cut back from about 9
minutes to 3 minutes and 20 seconds. “We
are thrilled with the great response on
this song. The main thing is
bluegrassers can relate to this song.
They recognize the Bill Monroe song
titles and maybe that triggers a memory
of playing or hearing one of his songs
at a jam or on a stage. Everybody in
bluegrass knows at least one Bill Monroe
song even if they don’t know it is a
Bill Monroe song. I used to sing his
songs around the campfire jams when I
first got into bluegrass and didn’t even
know they were his songs.” says Sandi
Millar, guitarist and lead singer for
the band.

Chuck and Sandi Millar founders of No
Grass Limit and Lesson Pros (MN based

performing artists, playing all over the
United States at festivals, private &

After spending most of their lives on
the concert stage, Chuck and Sandi felt

of all ages. In 2002, they came up with
an idea to start a music lesson program,
with Chuck's talent and knowledge of
teaching and Sandi's business sense they
made the perfect fit to create a
wonderful music lesson program. The
result was Lesson Pros (www.lessonpros.com),
a group of teachers offering private &
group music lessons to students of all
ages and abilities at the Lesson Pros
studios, community education programs,
churches and online worldwide. Lesson
Pros has currently taught over 3000
students of ages 4 to 98. Minnesota’s
music culture has greatly been expanded
and broadened, by the Millar’s, which is
truly admired.

Flatpicking Guitar Champion. Clint,
along with Jesse Moravec of the Sawtooth
Brothers, also captured the 1st place
title in the 2011 MN Duet Singing
Championships. In addition to music,
Clint is passionate about The Great
Outdoors and hunts as much as music and
school allow him. He has completed an
associates degree at Inver Hills
Community College and is now studying
professional journalism at the
University of Minnesota. He works at the
Minnesota Daily, the U of M's campus
paper, as a reporter, but is planning on
turning his music into a profession
after college.
Mike Hedding has been playing guitar,
banjo and mandolin with some of the
Midwest’s top bluegrass groups. Steeped
in the bluegrass tradition of Bill
Monroe, Mike now studies with Grammy
Award winning mandolin player Mike
Compton and teaches workshops in the
Midwest. Mike also has an extensive
knowledge of music theory and rhythm
which plays a large role in how he
teaches. Mike has also been traveling
around the Midwest playing banjo in the
bluegrass groups, The New North String
Band & The Puddle Jumpers. Mike’s banjo
playing is now being heard on bluegrass
radio stations across the country.
Vaughn Asselstine started her musical
journey when she was eight years old,
learning to tickle the ivories. From
there she moved on to squeezing the
accordion and strumming the guitar.
During the early 70s she played with the
Alive and Trucking Theater Company and
along the way to becoming a
college-educated computer geek she snuck
in some study of jazz and music theory.
Vaughn is also a rhythm tap dancer who
danced for many years with Keane Sense
of Rhythm, performed onstage at the
Chicago Human Rhythm Project and taught
adult rhythm tap classes. Next she
dabbled in West African drumming, taking
up the djembe under the tutelage of
Kenne Thomas. A few years ago Vaughn
started playing the bass. She fell in
love with the unique combination of
rhythm and melody that the bass brings
as the foundation of many types of
music. She has performed with multiple
old-time, bluegrass, Cajun and jazz
groups in Minneapolis and is
enthusiastic about playing with all of
them.
Above all, the members of No Grass Limit
value the people they meet and the
special times had by all at every
festival and event they been to or
played. Let's help make new memories
together with No Grass Limit at their CD
Release Party Friday, January 9th at
Dulono’s in Mpls.
